Cornish fishermen bring ashore an exceptional variety of fish and shellfish every day, sourced from some of the most diverse and sustainably managed marine environments in the world. Our members take great care to sustain thriving fisheries that support both the environment and the Cornish communities that depend on them.

At the Cornish Fish Producers Organisation (CFPO), we work tirelessly with our members to promote their reputation for landing premium-quality fish and shellfish. By collaborating and leading on innovative projects, the CFPO helps enhance the economic viability of the Cornish fleet and champions our hardworking, responsible fishermen.

Since becoming an independent coastal state, the fishing industry has embraced new opportunities while navigating evolving market conditions. With non-tariff barriers impacting businesses, our focus has shifted to not only preserving access to established markets but also unlocking fresh opportunities to strengthen the supply chain in a globally competitive landscape.

In alignment with the Cornish Fishing Strategy, the CFPO is proactively adding value to existing catches, opening doors to new markets and customers, and fostering greater public understanding of the dynamic fishing and seafood industry.

Cornish hake is a shining example of the CFPO’s commitment to sustainability. Once at risk of depletion, Cornish hake stocks have more than doubled thanks to ongoing collaboration between our members and scientists. Today, the Cornish gill-net hake fishery is proudly certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) as one of the UK’s most sustainable fisheries, a testament to the hard work of CFPO members.

Marketing is a core function of the Cornish Fish Producers Organisation (CFPO), and through Seafood Cornwall, our dedicated marketing arm, we take this obligation to the next level. Our mission is to raise awareness of the incredible variety and quality of fish and shellfish landed by our members, while driving demand to secure the best possible price for their catch. Through cross-supply chain focus groups and creative campaigns that spotlight underutilised species, we are continually working to maximise the value and accessibility of Cornish Seafood.
