Education

We work in partnership with SCT to deliver school projects to help children to engage with the fishing industry.
During 2014 and 2015 the CFPO worked together with SCT to deliver the ‘Net to Plate – Get into Seafood’ project, funded by the FLAG. As part of this project, the CFPO led the educational visits to Newlyn for 100s of Cornish primary school children.

Through a number of harbour tours and interactive talks the Net to Plate project helped to deliver on the following aims:

  • Raise awareness of seafood within Cornish schools
  • Promote the consumption of under-utilised species of fish readily available in Cornwall
  • Promote the health benefits of eating seafood
  • Educate children about where fish comes from and how it is caught

As part of the project a short video, worksheet and an A2 poster of Cornish fish species were produced. Our video is below for you to enjoy, but if you would like to access any of the other resources, please do get in touch.
